    USPS Order Tracking

Whether you are sending or expecting a package, USPS order tracking is vital. This service lets you know the item's whereabouts, the shipping events it experiences, and when to expect it.

USPS tracking service is a free package monitoring service available online depending on the mail class. It means that not all packages can be tracked at no charge automatically, some mail and parcel services will require additional payment to enable tracking.

Customers can also purchase extended tracking history with an additional 6 months up to 10 years access through USPS Tracking Plus®. This service starts at $0.99 and can be purchased online through USPS Tracking®. It is available for both domestic and international products including Priority Mail Express service, Priority Mail service and Parcel Select service.

Which USPS Mail and Parcel Services Can Be Tracked?

Knowing which USPS mail and parcel services are trackable helps you to choose the most ideal service to ship your packages.

USPS Tracking®, as mentioned in the previous section, is a cost-free method of tracking certain package classes that this national courier ships. This service is automatically applied to shipments sent or received through Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, USPS Ground Advantage, Media Mail, Parcel Select Non-presort, Library Mail and Bound Printed Matter.

Additionally, other trackable shipping services available are USPS Marketing Mail and First-Class Mail (letters and flats). The only caveat is that tracking for these two classes is available on the condition that you purchase a trackable extra service like Certified Mail or Registered Mail.

USPS Tracking Plus®, offering enhanced tracking capabilities, is not included by default with any shipping class. It can be accessed for select services upon payment.

    • Priority Mail Express
    • Priority Mail
    • USPS Ground Advantage
    • Parcel Select Non-presort

How Do I Add Tracking to My USPS Order?

The United States Postal Service has made it convenient for customers to add tracking functions to their USPS orders online and offline at a post office.

Tracking USPS orders online is easy.

    1. Visit USPS.com and sign up for an account that will allow you to access the full range of USPS online services.
    2. Proceed to log into the account you created and select the mailing or shipping service that satisfies your needs.
    3. With the service selected, you can now print out the shipping labels from your home or office. USPS includes the tracking number for the service you selected on the label.

If you would like a way to track your USPS order offline, visit your local post office, go to the retail counter and pay the postage for the trackable USPS shipping product or buy an extra tracking service you’d like to use. Once it’s successful, the tracking service will automatically activate, allowing you to track the USPS order.

    FAQs on USPS Order Tracking

    • What should I do if a package I’m waiting for hasn’t shown up in my email or dashboard?

The USPS email and dashboard only display tracked packages associated with your physical address. If a package does not show up, it may be because it was not assigned a tracking number when it was shipped. Another possible reason for this is a system delay. To manually add the package’s tracking number to your dashboard, click the “Packages” tab in your account and use the Add USPS Tracking Number or Traceable Indica ID+ feature.

    • Why am I not receiving any email or text notifications about my package?

There are several reasons why you might not be receiving email or text notifications about your package.

    1. USPS may not have new information to share if the package hasn't been scanned since the last update.
    2. You might have entered an incorrect email address or phone number when setting up your notification preferences.
    3. The notifications could be going to the junk or spam folder of your email account.
    • What should I do if I received my package but it was not scanned as delivered?

USPS may deliver a package but fail to update the delivery scan. In this case, the sender can contact the company to request a refund for the USPS Tracking fee paid but not the postage fee. Please note that this refund request is only applicable to USPS Marketing Mail parcels.
